Tom Phat - Sydney Rd - Brunswick

Photobucket

I've waffled on enough about it. Tom Phats tofu scramble is my favourite weekend breakfast right at the moment. The combination of the smoky oils and the sweet and sour thai sauces, I squeal with delight when I know its time to go there. The roti bread is debateably vegan, I asked the kitchen and they said on the packet it says made with margarine, which could mean it has milk solids in it, so order at your own risk. I am actually salivating right now looking at that picture. yum yum! Their coffee is very good too, I have had friends who complain about the service there but I have found it always very good. Enjoy! My favourite in Brunswick. 17/20.

  1. I love that you get so excited to go there, I squealed on the way to The Counter on the weekend because I was looking forward to a belly full of yummo vegan food.

And I am now following you on twitter :D

  2. I'm pretty noisy on twitter, so add me at your own risk! yes, good food gets me excited. I'm so fussy and such a critic, so when someone gets it right I almost have a conniption!

  3. So, I am obsessed with trying this tofu because you go on about it all the time, and yet the one time I've been to Tom Phat I chose NOT TO ORDER IT. I am not sure why. So I still have yet to try it!

  6. no, I had the pad thai (not that great). Danni had the tofu and tempeh wrap though and that was delicious.

  8. I went for dinner once and spied a few things that look vegan or veganisable. Seeing as the chefs are ex-Vegie Bar, I kind of expected that the staff would know what I was on about, even though the restaurant is omni (I suppose I assumed there would be a kind of organisational knowledge due to the owners' past experience). I overhead myself being described as a 'kind of super strict vegetarian', and only one dish was vegan ok. That said, it was a knockout - the Buddha's vegies dish - but the whole lack of 'getting it' has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

  9. hi Miss T, yeah I get paranoid when people dont have a clear idea of what you're going on about. Glad to know your dish was still very good. I think sometimes we are so spoiled in Melbourne that its a rude shock ie bad to the bad old days, when people dont know what you're going on about. Exactly the reason why I was so upset about the Grandview Hotel the other week.

Will try the Buddhas vegie dish if I ever dont feel like the tofu scramble!
