Melbourne Bakehouse Port Melbourne

Photobucket

Stopping off at Melbourne Bakehouse for a coffee you can imagine my surprise when I noticed a big label on a tray of goodies that said 'vegan date cake'. Now this is a run of the mill family owned bakery, specialising in all things meat and pastry. I must ask why they bake it! It was extremely EXTREMELY dense, like I ate half of it and didn’t want my lunch when I got back to the office. Oat, datey, more 'healthfood' than sweet, if you're in the area and don’t feel like a vegan cupcake from Bowl of Soul, then go for this!

  1. Just a few points.

Firstly there are more than 1 bakery's in Port Melbourne. Can you please be more specific which bakery you are talking about. The exact name would help people more clearly.

Secondly we need to be all careful which business's we criticise on their foods as legal action can also be taken against us for giving an incorrect information on the internet.

Thirdly you didn't state if the bakery had any customer complaint forms to be filled up. You could have also told them what the bakery needs to improve on rather than just leaving the place and posting your thoughts on the internet. After all it's our fault for not letthing them know if the food is nice or not.

Lastly we don't all eat the same foods that we serve out to others do we. Customer service means something yes ?. As for your comment on this I believe you are scaring people away from not eating the food you posted up on the internet. Please be more direct with the buisness.

  2. I don’t know how I can be more clear? The bakery is called Melbourne Bakehouse (and their other store on Bay st is called Port Bakehouse) and I have listed the address. Secondly, I think I am fair in my reviews, I only list honestly what has happened to me, am never defamatory for the sake of it, thirdly I wasn’t actually complaining about this bakery at all, I was saying that the slice was incredible dense (like 4 meals in one) and I thought I was being encouraging as I was delighted as what I considered a 'mainstream' bakery was producing and labelling items named 'vegan'. I think its great. I don’t pretend to be a professional food critic, I know what I like and don’t like, I make no money from this blog so people can take what I say or leave it. Simple. My comment saying "I must ask why they make it" was meaning to say I wonder why they are making a vegan product? Is it out of demand? That’s exciting to me! And I made no comment on their customer service so I don’t know what you're talking about there?

In your final points, every cook in every kitchen should be completely famliar with every item on the menu, especially the person who is designing the menu, ignorance is no excuse, this is how you make money.

  3. Carla,

"Port Backehouse" and "Melbourne Bakehouse" are not owned by 1 owner. They are not linked in any any way. You got the address mixed up with another bakery that has no link with the one your talking about and which don't serve the vegan.

"Port Backhouse" is a family owned business. I don't know where you got the idea to list "Port Backhouse" as 1-Being owned or linked with "Melbourne Backhouse". The Port Bakehouse do not serve the vegan. Are you talking about the Melbourne Bakehouse then ??? if so then the address of 210 Bay St is incorrect or if it's the Port Bakhouse you had the vegan then what can I say, they don't serve it. Can you please be accurate as there are many people currently not happy with your post.

The Melbourne Bakhouse and Port Bakehouse are not both located on 210 Bay St. I would suggest you probably go and visit the area again and look at the numbers of the buildings just to refresh the memory.

  4. My apologies I thought they were owned by the same company because they have very similar branding in the shop fronts/sell similar products. It is Melbourne Bakehouse and according to their website they are located at 210 Bay St.

I dont know why people are upset? Its a positive post. I actually really like the slice.
